Welcome to For the Users, Dreamwidth's all-purpose Tron community. I'm your mod, Ramen, and this post strives to present you with all the information you need to be a member of this community; since this is my first major comm, however, it has a ways to go. If you have any questions or concerns not addressed here, please contact me and I'll see what I can do about a solution.

First, the rules.

These can also be found in the community profile.

• Play nice. No character/ship bashing, no trolling, no being a dick. Violators will receive a warning at minimum. Repeat offenders or especially heinous first-timers will be banned at the moderator's discretion.


• Cut for spoilers. Legacy and Evolution haven't been out very long, so please respect the members who haven't consumed the new canon yet. Anything from Tron or 2.0 is fair game. See DW's FAQ if you don't know how to cut an entry.


• Cut for post size. This includes large images (greater than 640 pixels wide or 480 pixels high), multiple images (or more than four icons), long posts, and all fanworks minus the header. If you're not sure, go ahead and cut it anyway.


• Tag your posts. Accurately tagged posts make it easier for everyone to find what they're looking for. If a tag you want isn't available, use "request new tag" instead. If you don't know which tags to use, there's a tag called "request tagging assistance". At the moment all members may tag any post in the community and are encouraged to do so for "request tagging assistance" entries; please don't abuse this privilege or it will be revoked.


• Use a header for applicable fanworks. People will be more likely to click if they have an idea what's waiting for them.


• Warn for triggers. If your post contains subject matter which may be triggering to subscribers, please include a warning so they may skip the post at their discretion. Lack of a proper warning may be grounds for a warning or banning.

Finally, the miscellany.

So how do you find posts by specific users? It's really pretty easy! Under "Links of Interest" you'll see "Search Community by Username". Simply copy the link URL into your address bar and replace "username" with whoever you're looking for.

Forgive my hesitance, I want to be sure I'm not mucking anything up.

Thing the first: I wanted to check and make sure this (AWESOME) community was actually open to member posts (I don't want to jump the gun if things are still in their setup stages ;p).

Thing the second: is there anywhere that the community's specific tags are listed? I can see at the profile page that there are 15 to choose from, but since they haven't been used on any posts yet (with the exception of "mod post") the full list isn't publicly visible. I'm happy to go the "request tagging assistance" route, but I thought I'd check and make sure I'm not missing something obvious first.

Member posts are go! At this point, any remaining setup is going to be of the Bang Bang Bang Try It Now variety, so jumping the gun isn't an issue. :Db

Case in point: the tags thing. I hadn't even noticed that the unused tags were set to private. I'll go ahead and add them all to this post for the time being so people can actually find them. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!

Oh awesome, thank you so much! I actually hadn't even realized tags COULD be set to private until I went looking for the list here. Like... I had this moment of "Wait, it says there are fifteen tags. Why do I only see mod_post?"

This of course means that I will be ZOMG POSTING FIC NOW YAY. ^_^ Let me know if I manage to do anything wrong, of course. ;p I hope to be back with some frequency.

Apparently new tags are set to private unless they're created when added to a post, which I hadn't been aware of either (or if I knew I forgot).

All looks good on my end! Congratulations on providing the inaugural fic post! Oh, and I went ahead and added some tags for gen/het/slash/femmeslash if you'd like to use those.
